Sister Tano earned her EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. She has a Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences and a Bachelor's in Music from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She has taught in both public and private schools in Hawaii, working most recently for Kamehameha Schools. She is married to Darrel G. Tano and they are the parents of four children, three sons and one daughter. Three children have graduated from BYUH and fourth is currently attending BYU-Provo. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, playing the piano and organ, cooking and reading.
