Hiagi Wesley is originally from Rotuma Island. He received his doctorate degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is also ESL endorsed as well as a certified trainer in SIOP (Sheltered Instruction) and REACH (Respecting Ethnic And Cultural Heritage). His professional experiences included being an elementary principal in Salt Lake City School District, junior high and central office administrator in Granite School District, Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as Principal/Assistant Principal at the high school level in Fiji. His university experiences included teaching in the College of Education at the University of Guam and providing staff development for Guam's Department of Education teachers, administrators and paraprofessionals, and throughout Micronesia. He has also taught education, multiculture and student success courses as an adjunct professor for BYU, Provo and Utah Valley State College.
Hiagi and Susan are the parents of 7 children (6 boys & 1 girl). They have 4 grandchildren. Four of his children are married and live in Utah and Wyoming, one is serving a mission in Oaxaca, Mexico, another is a freshman here at BYUH and the youngest is attending high school.
