Dr. Peter Chan has been working as an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology at Brigham Young University Hawaii for four years since 2002. He assists the university in developing its instructional technology curriculum and was recognized as the "Teacher of the Year" in 2005 for his leadership in a number of international academic collaborations. His research and development work in using video ethnography for training in higher-level thinking has been applied in China, Mongolia, and the United States. Dr. Chan was awarded an honorary professorship at the Health Sciences University of Mongolia earlier this year for his contribution in improving medical instructions in the country. He has also received awards for his dissertation study from the American Educational Research Association and the Association for Educational Communications and Technology.

Dr. Chan is renown among Chinese instructional technologists for organizing the 2005 Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education at Brigham Young University Hawaii where top instructional technology leaders discussed critical issues relating to improving instructions and human performance. He is also the Associate Editor for the Research on Lifelong Education Journal in Chinese.

Dr. Chan is the coordinator of the Instructional Design and Development minor program on campus.
