Dr. Thompson began his college teaching career in the University of South Dakota (USD) School of Education teaching Special Education in the fall of 1979. In 1990 he was chosen to work with three other professors on a technology project. The project evolved into InTEC (The Center for Interactive Technology in Education and Corporations) and then into a new division in the USD School of Education. The Division for Technology for Training and Development (TTD) has now become the Division for Technology in Education and Training (TET). Dr. Thompson taught courses in multimedia production, web page development, instructional design, effective teaching with technology, and technology evaluation and management primarily to graduate students, in the years since the TET Division was formed.

In coming to Brigham Young University Hawaii, Dr. Thompson will once again teach Special Education classes under School of Education.

Dr. Thompson and his wife Karen Bodily will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in Laie this coming December (2006). Their five-year-old grandson, Javier Casey Thompson will be moving to Laie with them and will begin Kindergarten at Laie Elementary School this fall.
