Liahona High School

Aloha!

In collaboration with the Seminaries and Institutes (S&I) and  Brigham Young University Hawai'i, the International Teacher Education Program (ITEP) is a partnership created to provide professional development programs for S&I teachers and administrators in the Pacific. These programs are intended to provide them with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to  more effectively  teach and administer. The third partner in this program, the Church Missionary Department, provides an essential service to the success of this program.
Couples with teacher education expertise are called to serve as ITEP Missionaries and s Adjunct Faculty to the School of Education in Kiribati, Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. With their professional backgrounds, they provide needed instruction in the designated course work and supervision required in each country. As needed, faculty members from the church university campuses are also utilized to provide essential services.
As the university continues to focus on it's international mission, the School of Education seeks to attract more students into teacher education from international locations. The School of Education works with each international student to identify and meet the licensing requirements for their perspective country. These students will student teach in a school in their home country, enabling their career as a teacher at home.
